The function of the Judge of the Morris County Surrogate Court includes administering wills, estates and trusts for Morris County residents. In addition, the Surrogate is the clerk of the Superior Court and assists activities ranging from adoptions to incompetency matters. The Surrogate also has the duty of handling the minors’ intermingled trust fund and is holding as custodian approximately $25 million in that fund for Morris County minors. The Surrogate Court is fully computerized and automated. Microfilm read-printers are available for reading or reproducing original wills and other relevant probate documents. The Surrogate is elected every five years.
