Morris County Surrogate Heather J. Darling spoke last Friday at the Morris County Library before a full audience, delivering an informative presentation, then responded to audience questions on wills, trusts, and estate planning. The event provided residents with practical guidance on protecting their assets, planning for loved ones, and understanding how the Surrogate’s Court plays a unique and vital role in the probate process. Surrogate Darling emphasized the importance of proactive planning and staying informed as laws and estate-planning tools continue to evolve.
During her presentation, Surrogate Darling shared updates on pending legislation, The New Jersey Electronics Wills Act (S421). She also highlighted the launch of the new Morris County Surrogate’s Court website as a resource for residents seeking information, forms, and guidance.
Surrogate Darling provided an in-depth review of the Surrogate Court's responsibilities and encouraged attendees to take steps to better understand their options and the probate process, emphasizing how informed planning can help reduce confusion and delays for families in the future.
